From template to watchlist in three steps.

01

Make it yours.

Open the template and choose Make a copy. Your private copy includes the Watchlist and Guide tabs and the attached script. Use Google Sheets in a desktop browser.

02

Connect your API key.

Choose SiftingIO → Set API key. Review Google's script permissions on first use, then enter your key from the SiftingIO dashboard. No code to paste or add-on to install.

03

Choose symbols. Refresh prices.

Edit the yellow Market and Symbol cells, then choose SiftingIO → Refresh prices. Follow up to 20 symbols in one copy and use the numeric price cells in your own calculations.

Where can I find supported symbols?

Browse the SiftingIO symbol catalogue and select the matching market in your sheet. Coverage and API access follow your plan.

The SiftingIO menu is missing. What should I do?

Reload your copied sheet in a desktop browser. Check that you copied the original template, including its attached Apps Script.

Google asks me to authorize the script. Is that expected?

Yes. Your copy uses Apps Script to update the spreadsheet and request prices from SiftingIO. Review the permissions in your Google account. A managed Workspace account may need administrator approval.

How is my API key stored?

The key is saved in Apps Script user properties for your Google account in that copy, rather than a spreadsheet cell. Keep your working copy private or share only with trusted editors. Use SiftingIO → Remove API key to clear it from the copy.

Why is a price timestamp older than the refresh?

The sheet shows the latest available price and its source timestamp. During a market closure, the latest price may be from the previous session. Age at refresh is measured when you refresh and stays fixed until the next refresh.

Does the sheet update automatically?

Refreshes are manual. Opening the sheet or editing a symbol does not fetch data. Each populated row uses an API request during a refresh, subject to your plan's allowance. The template shows snapshots; use the export tool for historical data.
