Cookie Policy.
What cookies and similar technologies SaltingIO LLC uses on the SiftingIO website, why we use them, and how to manage your preferences. We do not currently use third-party advertising cookies.
1. Introduction
This Cookie Policy explains how SaltingIO LLC (“SaltingIO,” “we,” or “us”) uses cookies and similar technologies when you visit sifting.io and use the SiftingIO dashboards and developer console (collectively, the “Service”). SiftingIO is a product of SaltingIO LLC.
This Policy supplements the Privacy Policy, which describes how we handle personal data more broadly, and should be read together with the Terms of Use.
3. Categories of cookies we use
We use cookies in the following categories:
3.1 Strictly necessary. These are required to deliver the Service. They enable core functionality such as authentication, account session management, security (CSRF protection, anti-fraud, rate limiting), load balancing, and remembering your acceptance of this Policy. The Service will not function correctly without them, and they are exempt from consent requirements under applicable law.
3.2 Functional. These remember choices you make to improve your experience, for example, your selected theme (dark/light), language preference, or dashboard layout. They are not strictly necessary, but the Service is less convenient without them.
3.3 Analytics and performance. These help us understand how visitors interact with the marketing site (e.g. which pages are viewed, broad referral source, aggregated performance metrics) so we can improve content and reliability. Where required by law, we use only privacy-respecting analytics configured to avoid storing personal identifiers, or we obtain your consent.
3.4 Marketing. We do not currently use third-party advertising or cross-context behavioral-advertising cookies. If we introduce any in the future, we will update this Policy and, where required, obtain your prior consent.
4. Cookies we set
The table below lists the cookies we currently set or may set:
| Name | Purpose | Type | Retention |
|---|---|---|---|
| theme | Stores your selected color theme (dark or light) so it persists across visits. Set in localStorage rather than as an HTTP cookie. | Functional, first-party | Persistent (until cleared) |
| session / sb-* | Authenticated session for the SiftingIO dashboard. Used to keep you signed in and to authorize requests against your account. | Strictly necessary, first-party | Session or up to 30 days |
| csrf-token | Protects against cross-site request forgery on dashboard form submissions and account changes. | Strictly necessary, first-party | Session |
| siftingio.cookie-consent | Remembers your cookie preferences (which categories you accepted, the timestamp, and the policy version) so we do not re-prompt on every visit. Stored in browser localStorage rather than as an HTTP cookie, so it is not transmitted to our servers. | Strictly necessary, first-party | Persistent (re-prompted after 12 months) |
| analytics-id | Pseudonymous identifier used by our privacy-respecting analytics provider to count unique visitors and aggregate page views. Set only where consent is provided or where applicable law permits without consent. | Analytics, first-party | Up to 13 months |
Cookie names, providers, and retention may change as we add or replace tooling. The categories above describe the types of cookies we use and remain accurate even as specific names evolve.
5. Third-party cookies
Some pages embed services that may set their own cookies:
- Stripe, Inc.: when you reach a checkout or billing page, Stripe may set cookies for fraud prevention, payment-form state, and 3-D Secure. See Stripe’s cookie policy.
- Status page provider: our public status page, hosted on a third-party domain, may set cookies for session and analytics.
These third parties are independent controllers for their cookies and process the data they collect according to their own policies, which we encourage you to review.
6. Legal basis
Where the EU or UK ePrivacy Directive (and PECR in the UK) applies, we set strictly necessary cookies on the basis of legitimate interest in operating a secure Service, and we set non-essential cookies (functional, analytics, marketing) only with your prior consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
Where the CCPA/CPRA or other U.S. state privacy laws apply, you can exercise applicable rights, including any right to opt out of “sale” or “sharing”, as described in our Privacy Policy. As noted there, we do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
7. Managing your cookie preferences
You can manage cookies in several ways:
- Cookie banner.Where required by law, we present a banner on your first visit that lets you accept or reject non- essential cookies. You can re-open the preferences at any time via the “Cookie preferences” link in the footer (when available).
- Browser controls. Most browsers let you view, block, or delete cookies via their settings. See instructions for Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge. Mobile browsers and operating systems offer similar controls.
- Global Privacy Control. We honor browser-level opt-out signals such as Global Privacy Control where applicable law requires.
Blocking or deleting strictly necessary cookies will prevent you from signing in to the dashboard or using parts of the Service.
8. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy as our use of cookies changes or as required by law. The updated version will be posted at this URL with a revised “Last updated” date. Material changes will be communicated through the Service or by email at least 14 days before they take effect, unless a shorter period is required by law.
