Read your market-data CSV

One row per historical bar. Keep the selected instrument, currency and actual interval with the file: CSV contains data columns only. Excel includes a separate Metadata sheet.

Exact CSV header Meaning
Time (UTC) Bar-open instant as ISO 8601 UTC text, ending in Z.
Timestamp (ms) The same instant as Unix epoch milliseconds; divide by 1,000 only if your reader expects seconds.
Open / High / Low / Close First / highest / lowest / last price in the returned bar; four separate columns. Currency, price basis and instrument unit come from the dataset, not the header.
Volume Reported per-bar volume or tick count. An empty cell means unavailable; it is distinct from a numeric zero.

Time and missing bars

A 1h bar opening at 00:00 describes that bucket, conventionally [00:00, 01:00). Use the actual returned interval. Guest downloads include only fully closed buckets wholly inside the last 24 hours; boundary-straddling bars are omitted.

Own-key history can include a forming latest bar. CSV has no per-row “closed” flag. Dataset “partial” means an incomplete result, not a per-bar status. No empty candles are fabricated. Stock daily bars represent a trading session; weekly/monthly intervals are calendar based, not fixed 24h/30-day spans.

Numbers and units

CSV is UTF-8 with a BOM, comma-delimited and CRLF-terminated. Numeric values use JavaScript's float64 round-trip text without display rounding; upstream decimal precision cannot be recovered.

Forex/commodities volume is a tick count where reported, not traded lots or physical units. Their legacy unreported zero becomes blank. Crypto/stock volume units may be Unknown; use explicit metadata rather than guessing. Stock prices are as-traded, not split/dividend adjusted.

Five synthetic 1h rows · not live prices

All rows below use 2026-10-01 UTC. The downloadable fixture has both full ISO time and matching epoch milliseconds. USD is a synthetic example currency; volume unit is unknown.

Row UTC open Open High Low Close Volume
1 00:00 100 104 99 103 12.5
2 01:00 103 105 101 102 blank
3 02:00 102 103 100 101 0
4 04:00 101 106 101 105 7.25
5 05:00 105.123456789 107 104 106 2.75

1 Normal bar: high 104, low 99, close 103. 2 Blank volume is unavailable, not zero. 3 Numeric zero is preserved for this synthetic crypto dataset. 4 03:00 is absent; do not forward-fill an invented candle. 5 Open retains 105.123456789; a rounded screen display must not replace the exported value.

Before comparing files

Confirm symbol, quote currency, actual interval, source/session coverage, price basis, adjustment, completeness and volume kind/unit. Save the Excel Metadata sheet alongside CSV when those details matter. “Complete” does not prove a gap-free calendar or finality of every bar.
